FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Annapolis, MD–December 21, 2011–AtisSun Solar is announcing a national campaign to get 10,000 transitioning service members and military veterans into the solar energy industry by 2015. AtisSun believes the solar industry and former members of the military are a perfect match for one another and is launching a campaign called 1o,000 Strong: Solar Jobs for Veterans.

“Thousands of troops are returning from tours in Iraq and Afghanistan to their families and deciding not to stay in the military,” said Matthew Bartlett, president and founder of AtisSun. “But a lot of them are struggling with the adjustment to civilian life, particularly returning to the job market.”

Jobs in the solar industry require a range of skills and professions, including (but not limited to) electricians, plumbers, mechanical engineers, welders, metal workers, construction managers, accountants, analysts, environmental scientists, and chemists. Considering the extensive training many people receive during their time in the various branches of the military, veterans are often skilled in these fields among others.

The solar industry grew by nearly 70% in the last year alone. Solar now provides jobs to 100,000 Americans at 5,000 solar companies around the country. Conservative estimates for 2012 put growth in the industry at an additional 25,000 in solar sales, manufacturing, installation and distribution in the United States.

AtisSun will be partnering with solar manufacturing, distribution, installation and service companies across the country during the 10,000 Strong: Solar Jobs for Veterans campaign over the next three years.

“We are grateful to our nation’s veterans for their service to our country and we want to help them find continuing success beyond their lives in the service,” added Bartlett.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Annapolis, MD—December 1, 2011—Maryland-based solar company AtisSun, Inc is announcing that the company’s popular solar energy system financing program is set to expire at the end of the year. The program, offered through a partnership with solar-manufacturer Schuco and Enerbank USA, has assisted many Maryland residents in installing solar panels on their homes.

“We’ve been pleased with the response to the financing program,” Matthew Bartlett, founder and President of AtisSun, Inc., said in a statement. “For a long time, we were looking for a way to match homeowners with solar energy systems, and this financing program is a great tool for that during tough economic times.”

As a certified Schuco installer, AtisSun meets the requirements necessary to offer the program, known as Schuco’s Green Energy Fund, to its customers. The financing is available to eligible applicants on 12-month no payment, 0% interest terms through the end of the year. The application can often be completed in under 30 minutes; not all who apply are approved. The program offers 100% unsecured loans ranging from $1,000 to $45,000 to qualified homeowners only.

“Combined with the available federal and state tax incentives, this type of financing program has made a huge impact on the amount of solar panels installed in the state of Maryland this year,” said Bartlett. “It’s really made the difference for many people who may have previously thought that a solar energy system for their home was unaffordable.”

AtisSun is unsure at this time whether the popular financing terms will be extended into 2012.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Annapolis, MD–November 16, 2011–Maryland-based solar company AtisSun Inc is expressing support for the Maryland farm community as it attempts to invest in large scale renewable energy projects. Farmers have run into opposition from the Navy, which fears that proposed wind turbines to be erected on leased land from Eastern Shore farms could interfere with the Naval Air Station Patuxent River’s radar system.

If the wind developments are blocked, struggling Maryland farmers stand to lose a valuable income source desperately needed in their economically-depressed region. Farmers are hoping that renewable energy developments like wind turbines and large solar arrays could save them from making difficult decisions like selling off property to housing developers.

“We believe it’s important to protect Maryland’s valuable farmland,” said Matthew Bartlett, founder and President of AtisSun, Inc. “Renewable energy developments like the proposed wind turbine projects in Somerset County allow Maryland to build a sustainable future in the farming community, which is under attack from aggressive development and falling profits.”

The Navy views the issue as a matter of national security and is doing what it can to measure a wind development’s impact on NAVAIR’s highly sensitive radar system prior to the wind turbines construction. Developers, officials and the military say they are committed to resolving the issue and point to 240 similar projects that have been reviewed, and approved, by the Defense Department in the past.

“We’re doing what we can to call attention to this because it’s so vital,” said Bartlett. “Farmers in Maryland’s Somerset County are counting on these types of developments to generate steady income and clean energy. This is one of the most economically depressed regions in the state, and we’re talking about a potential billion-dollar investment. It will protect Maryland’s farmland from development that, in many cases, has been in these families for generations.”

Unfortunately, many of the most serious problems we face in the modern world require long-term thinking and planning; things like our personal finances and energy consumption.

The Expediency Factor is our deeply rooted instinct to search for fast, short-term, convenient solutions to a particular problem. Behavior like this almost always leads to irrational action due to the fact that any behavior that fails to take into consideration the long-term effects on one’s own well being is irrational.

Long-term effects of poor money habits = BAD to our own well being

Long-term effects of fossil fuel based energy consumption = BAD to our own well being

One of the biggest, if not the biggest areas where people fall victim to the Expediency Factor is with their personal finances. An individual with an inability to make strategic long-term decisions in the area of personal finance will most certainly end up with major financial problems down the road. Poor short-term financial decisions equate to damaging one’s own financial well being down the road. You don’t have to be part of the Cognitive Elite to see this is irrational behavior.

Fossil fuel based energy consumption seriously
tests our long-term thinking capabilities…

Fossil fuel based energy consumption hits us with a double-whammy of long-term decisions. First, it’s a major expense in the area of our personal finances which, as I just mentioned, is an area where we fall prey to the Expediency Factor routinely. Second, finding solutions to the energy crisis requires substantial long-term thinking abilities. Again, not one of our strong points.

Being in the renewable energy field I often see people struggle with decisions about their future. Even after showing someone rationally how something like solar panels on their home will increase their net worth by $100,000 or more they have reluctance to make a final decision. You can see the Expediency Factor at play as they wrestle with their primal fast, short-term, convenient solution seeking instinct.

What should I do?

We must be aware of the Expediency Factor and admit to ourselves that we struggle with long-term decision making, then make the necessary course corrections in our lives to improve on this area of weakness.

People who have worked hard to build (and actually have) a solid financial foundation typically have better long-term thinking skills. If you are one of these people, then investments like solar electric panels and solar hot water heaters will make better sense to you.

Most people want to do the right thing by reducing their use of fossil fuel based energy consumption. However, many people find themselves in a mental bind that makes it difficult to make good, long-term, rational decisions.

So, if you find yourself struggling with long-term decisions around your family’s personal finances and energy consumption you should find an friend, advisor or someone else who has better long-term thinking skills than you. Then listen and learn from them to improve your own skills and be less influenced by the Expediency Factor.

1.) Your solar panels capture free, 100% renewable energy from the sun. The typical residential solar water heater installation will include 2 or 3 solar panels mounted on your roof.

2.) Your solar station regulates the connection between the solar panels and the hot water storage tank.

3.) Your free, solar heated water is ready for household use.

The plan will eliminate government support for renewable energy, particularly wind and solar power, and drastically change environmental protection policies. Romney will increase production of coal, oil and natural gas while repelling new pollution legislation. The plan would also rework the existing Clean Air Act, which Romney claims is outdated. However, the plan does nothing to address climate change. Romney has stated that he rejects the National Academy of Sciences’ reports that links coal, oil, and gas emissions to global warming. He believes government spending to reduce emissions “is not the right course for us.”

Furthermore, Romney claims that the government can’t continue to support measures to reduce emissions and protect the ozone when unemployment is at the current levels.

The growth rate for jobs in the solar industry is nearly 10 times greater than the United State’s national average employment growth rate of 0.7 percent. The solar industry has grown over 70 percent in the last year alone and now employs over 100,000 Americans at more than 5,000 businesses around the country. Part of that growth is in fact due to support from the current presidential administration for the solar industry in the last few years.

Comparatively, the fossil fuel industry has had a negative growth rate of 2 percent when measured in the same time period. Out of 2,100 solar installation firms recently surveyed by the Solar Foundation, over 50 percent said they would be adding jobs in 2012. By August of next year, the Solar Foundation predicts growth in the solar industry to be 24 percent, an addition of 24,000 jobs.

“Time and again over the last few years, the solar industry has proven to be a bright spot in a grim economy,” said Matthew Bartlett, Founder of AtisSun Solar. “It supports thousands of American families through employment and helps millions more by reducing their energy expenses and carbon footprint. I truly hope Romney’s plan can be revised to take that into account.”
