September 8th, 2009Saving Money With Solar
September 2nd, 2009“Is saving money the only reason why I am interested in solar?”
This is a good question to ask yourself if you are considering a solar water heater for your home. While the savings benefits are significant over a long period of time a solar water heater corrects one of the least energy efficient areas of your home. By using the sun’s clean, 100% renewable energy to heat your water you have made a tremendously positive impact in helping the environment. You are reducing tons of CO2 emissions which means less pollution and damage to you world. This is a wonderful benefit!
Making the decision to switch to a solar water heater does make financial sense, but should that be the only reason? There are a lot of things we buy that don’t save us money and don’t help the environment. Maybe it’s time to take a closer look at why we are truly interested in renewable energy investments…like solar water heaters.
Maryland Solar Energy Grant Updates
September 1st, 2009
Program Update for FY 2010: The Maryland Energy Administration (MEA) is pleased to announce that through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA); as well as proceeds generated from the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative, sufficient funds have been added to the Maryland Solar Energy Grant Program to cover all applicants who had previously been placed on the waitlist. With the new round of funds able to clear the current waitlist, additional funding is now available to Maryland residents who intend to install qualified solar photovoltaic, or solar hot water systems.
Given the rapidly growing demand for solar energy in the state, the Maryland Energy Administration has implemented new guidelines for the Solar Energy Grant Program in an effort to support funding through the end of Fiscal Year 2010. Any application received after September 1, 2009 will be subject to the following parameters…

Get Paid To Save With Solar In Maryland
August 27th, 2009
I am constantly amazed at the popularity of Cash For Clunkers, Cash For Dishwashers, Cash For Whatever, etc… These programs are o.k., I guess, but the solar energy incentives Maryland homeowners have access to are absolutely terrific.
Look people!…Most Maryland homeowners can get over $4,000 towards the installation of something that will literally save you 10’s of thousands of dollars. Not to mention solar water heating eliminates CO2 emissions. In many cases a typical Maryland solar water heater installation will not cost much more than a regular, fossil fuel burning water heater.
